Hung Hing News Update March 2007

New Factory at HeShan

Hung Hing’s construction of a new 3.5million square foot modular design factory in HeShan; a developing town west of Shenzhen, is now in operation with an initial workforce of approx 400 workers and employing an additional 100 every week.  Hung Hing are to move the hand assembly and labour intensive work to HeShan over a period of time to ensure continuity of service with a potential 20,000 additional workers at peak capacity.

The manufacture of conventional books and all packaging work will remain in the existing facility at FuYong, Shenzhen, giving Hung Hing room for further expansion.

3 offset presses and 6 semi-automatic screen-printers with finishing machines have already been installed at the new factory with 4 more presses planned in the near future.  The site of the new factory has been carefully considered to make the most of the new Hong Kong to Macau Bridge allowing the new facility to offer fast transport to port as part of the continuous improvement to customer service.

HH Accreditations

At the end of 2006 HH joined the “Caring Company” scheme and was awarded the Caring Company plaque in February 2007 by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services.  HH has also had its ICTI (International Council for Toys Industry) certificate renewed for 2007; the ICTI promotes ethical standards within the toy industry and this certification is a requirement for many prestigious customers including Disney, Mattel and Hasbro.

Environmental Investment at Hung Hing

Many customers now place environmental issues high on their agenda and high profile manufacturers are understandably keen to meet this demand by using sustainable and recyclable materials whenever possible.

Although HH is already using paper and board from FSC certified and sustainable sources, plans are underway to apply for FSC certification for both the Sun Hing Paper Trading Company and Hung Hing Offset Printing Company so a full FSC certified supply chain can be provided.
