Moira Fisher Retired!

As most of you know, Moira Fisher retired on 31st January 2008.  Here at MacLehose professionalism calls for a successful handing on of the baton and we are confident that all is well in hand.  We wish Moira the very best in her retirement.   Here are some photos of her farewell that we’d like to share…

Developments at Hung Hing

The factory and Hong Kong head office are now open after the New Year holiday and ready to commence work.

ICTI certified                  HeShan factory has now passed the ICTI audit and Shenzhen’s certificate has been renewed for 2008.  The Shenzhen certificate was presented to Hung Hing by ICTI-CARE president Christian Ewert in a special occasion when the ICTI-CARE governance board members were visiting the factory on 11th January.

Toy safety
We recently let you know about the  "Export quality certificate -EQC" that is required for components provided by yourselves.  We hope this helps explain the new procedures that are in place and please let us know if you have any questions.
Every month HH must prepare a list of products that they have scheduled to export. The Authorities will select some of these

products for the FPS test.

This test is a full safety test including Physical and Mechanical, flammability, heavy metal, and warning statement.  Hung Hing need to provide the product samples together with any coating materials and EQC (for component with ‘independent play value’) to the authorities for testing.  Most important is to have the warning message/age grading on all products.

FSC/PEFC paper                Hung Hing have sourced new FSC supplies and with the full Chain of Custody in place we are happy to help on projects where sustainable sources are required.

New PP material Hung Hing have tested a fully biodegradable PP lamination film which is more environmentally friendly. The PP film is made from FSC certified wood source although the cost is considerably higher then existing film. Please ask for sample if you are interested.

Soya Ink All processing inks that Hung Hing use contain over 20% soy oil and are therefore classified as Soya ink.  Hung Hing also tested Soya inks with full soy-oil base.  These have around 50% soy-oil by weight, with the remaining made up of pigment, wax

and resin - no mineral oil.  Some may refer to this as 100% soya ink.  We can provide further details on request.

Recycled Paper                   Beside CCNB, C1S and C2S where Hung Hing already have paper available using recycled content, they have now also sourced Art Paper and Woodfree paper with recycled content between 10-30%.  These are not stock items and availability must be checked.

***Hung Hing have also sourced 100% recycled "Kraft" paper with off-set printable quality***

Water based UV oil            Hung Hing are testing a water-based UV oil.  This is still in development stages but we’ll keep you updated!

Important dates coming up include:

***Bologna Book Fair:

31st March – 3rd April

***London Book Fair:

14th April – 16th April

~With Best Wishes~
